Peter Tsimbidaros ID’d as Man Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash at Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street in Bridgeport
Bridgeport, Connecticut (January 5, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a traffic accident that occurred on New Year’s Day at an intersection in Bridgeport as Peter Tsimbidaros, 50, a prominent attorney and leader of Bridgeport’s Greek community.
The fatal crash happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1 at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street.
Authorities said Tsimbidaros was driving to have dinner with his parents to celebrate the new year when for an unknown reason, his green 2006 Honda CRV collided with a red Chrysler minivan at the Bridgeport intersection.
Tsimbidaros was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
According to the reports, Tsimbidaros was a member of the parish council at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
The driver of the Chrysler minivan was identified as Keith Commerford, 50, of Bridgeport. Authorities said Commerford was charged earlier in the day in an unrelated hit-and-run accident that happened at the intersection of Chopsey Hill Road and Island Brook Avenue Extension.
Police said charges related to this deadly crash are pending the outcome of the investigation.
