Meriden Man Killed in Wallingford Pedestrian Accident on Yale Avenue

Wallingford, Connecticut (January 30, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Wallingford, according to a local news source.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at about 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, January 29 on Yale Avenue.

Authorities said a 66-year-old Meriden man was driving a 2019 GMC Terrain eastbound on Yale Avenue when he pulled off to the right-hand side of the road and got out of  the vehicle.

The man then crossed over to the north side of Yale Avenue and was seen picking something up off the ground, likely a bottle for redemption. He was then hit by a gray 2017 Subaru Forester while trying to cross the street back to his parked vehicle.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details about the crash were given.

The accident remains under investigation.
