Officer Ovelize Elena among 5 Injured in Bridgeport Car Accident on Park Avenue at Olive Street
Fairfield County, Connecticut (February 22, 2020) – A police officer was among five injured early Saturday morning in a traffic accident involving a police cruiser and a passenger car at an intersection in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, according to a local news source.
The crash took place at about 12:40 a.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and Olive Street.
Authorities said a black Honda was heading eastbound on Olive Street when the driver allegedly ran a red light and was hit by the Bridgeport Police vehicle that was heading northbound on Park Avenue.
The police car was on the way to assist another officer on a call when the accident occurred.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene to render aid to the involved parties.
The driver of the police car, identified as Officer Ovelize Elena, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was released.
The driver and the right-front passenger of the Honda were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and were released.
The left-rear passenger was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was released. The right rear passenger had major injuries and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital.
All four occupants of the Honda were from Bridgeport.
