Officer Injured in East Hartford Hit-and-Run Accident on St. Regis Street
East Hartford, Connecticut (February 15, 2020) – A police officer was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver Friday afternoon in East Hartford, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 14 on St. Regis Street.
As per the report, the officer was investigating a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked on St. Regis Street. The car struck the officer as it flees the scene.
The officer was able to return to his police cruiser and follow Davila westbound onto Interstate 84. He informed other police units of the situation in a pursuit that would include state police.
The pursuit ended after stop sticks were deployed stopping the suspect car near exit 25 in Waterbury. The suspect, identified as Catherine Davila, 33, was arrested and booked into jail on possession of drug paraphernalia, engaging police in a pursuit, possession of a controlled substance and assault on a police officer.
The officer who was hit by Davila’s vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
