Luis Perez ID’d as 1 of 5 Injured in Bridgeport Car Accident on Park Avenue at Olive Street
Fairfield County, Connecticut (February 22, 2020) – One of the five people who were injured early Saturday morning when a police cruiser and a passenger car collided at a Bridgeport intersection has been identified as Luis Jymmy Perez, 18, of Bridgeport.
The accident occurred at around 12:40 a.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and Olive Street.
According to police, a black Honda was traveling eastbound on Olive Street when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by the Bridgeport Police vehicle that was heading northbound on Park Avenue.
The police car was traveling to help another officer on a call when the accident occurred.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene to provide medical aid to the involved parties.
The driver of the police car sustained minor injuries and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
Perez, who was the driver of the Honda, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with minor injuries and was released.
The right-front passenger of the Honda was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The right rear passenger sustained major injuries and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital.
The left-rear passenger was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with minor injuries.
All four occupants of the Honda were from Bridgeport.
