Leonard James Killed in Wallingford Pedestrian Accident on Yale Avenue

Leonard James Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Yale Avenue in Wallingford

Wallingford, Connecticut (January 30, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Wallingford as Leonard James, 66, of Meriden.

The fatal accident occurred at about 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, January 29 on Yale Avenue.

Authorities said James was driving a 2019 GMC Terrain eastbound on Yale Avenue when he pulled off to the right-hand side of the road and exited his vehicle.

James then crossed over to the north side of Yale Avenue and was seen picking something up off the ground, likely a bottle for redemption. He was attempting to cross the street back to his parked vehicle when he was hit by a gray 2017 Subaru Forester.

James died at the scene.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
