John Apolonio Suffers Major Injuries in Bridgeport Car Accident at Park Avenue and Olive Street
Fairfield County, Connecticut (February 22, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a major injury accident involving a police cruiser and a passenger car that occurred early Saturday morning in Bridgeport.
The two-car crash took place at about 12:40 a.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and Olive Street.
According to police, a black Honda was traveling eastbound on Olive Street when the driver allegedly ran a stop sign and was hit by the Bridgeport Police vehicle that was traveling northbound on Park Avenue.
The police car was en route to help another officer on a call at the time of the accident.
Emergency crews responded to the scene to render aid to the involved parties.
The driver of the police car, Ovelize Elena, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was released.
The driver of the Honda, Luis Jymmy Perez, 18, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with minor injuries and was released. The right-front passenger, Jordi Cruz, also 18 years old, was also taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The left-rear passenger, Juan Guaman, also 18, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with minor injuries. The right rear passenger, John Apolonio, 19, sustained major injuries and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital.
All four occupants of the Honda were from Bridgeport.
