Ibrahim Elali Hospitalized after Southington Crash on Interstate 691 near Exit 3

Southington, Connecticut (February 19, 2020) – A 22-year-old Hartford man was hospitalized Tuesday night after a traffic accident involving two vehicles in Southington, authorities said.

The two-car crash took place at about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, February 18 on eastbound Interstate 691 near Exit 3.

According to the authorities, a Meriden woman was driving her 2011 Nissan Sentra in the right lane when, for unknown reasons, the Nissan was struck from the back by a 2016 Ford Focus driven by Ibrahim Elali.

As a result of the collision, the Focus rolled over and ejected Elali onto the roadway.

Authorities said Elali suffered major injuries and was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

The driver and passenger in the Nissan were not injured.

I-691 was closed between Exit 4 and Exit 5 as the investigation and cleanup took place.
