Faisal Javed Injured in Fatal Double-Tractor Trailer Crash on I-91 in Windsor

Faisal Javed Hospitalized after Windsor Truck Accident on Interstate 91 near Exit 39

Windsor, Connecticut (January 8, 2020) – Faisal Javed, 42, of New Britain, was injured early Tuesday morning in a deadly fiery crash involving a pair of tractor-trailers in Windsor, according to state police.

The fatal accident took place at around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 on Interstate 91 south near exit 39.

Authorities said a 2012 tractor trailer was traveling on Interstate 91 when for an unknown reason, it veered off the highway and slammed into a 2020 big rig that was parked on the side of the highway. Both trucks caught fire upon the impact.

The driver of the 2012 tractor trailer died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Javed, who was the driver of the parked rig, was transported to Hartford Hospital with unspecified injuries.

All south lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours as the investigation and clean up took place.  As of 1:00 p.m., the highway was reopened.

The accident took place approximately a half-mile from the Windsor Locks line.
