Hamden, Connecticut (February 12, 2020) – A man was killed and another was seriously injured after a vehicle crashed into a bust stop in Hamden Wednesday morning, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened at about 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street.

According to the authorities, Pinky McBurrows, 31, of Ansonia, was driving a Jeep northbound on Dixwell Avenue when, for unknown reasons, she allowed the vehicle to drift into the southbound lanes and slammed into a bus stop enclosure.

The two men, both ages 57 and 50, were in the bus stop enclosure at the time of the accident. Both were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with major injuries.

Authorities said the 57-year-old man later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

McBurrows attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested by the authorities. She is facing charges including reckless driving, evading responsibility, driving without a license and failure to drive in the proper lane.

The accident remains under investigation.
